How to build a preloader in Flash 3.

 



Note: The preloader was improved for Flash 4. The following tutorial is for Flash 3 users.

Many designers employ the pre-loading technique to keep their animations from "hanging," so the user sees a fluid movie, as the designer intended. Employing the pre-loader involves two action elements: "If Frame is Loaded" and "Goto and Play." The technique is akin to an IF THEN ELSE NEXT loop, from good old BASIC.
