Tutorial: How to rewind embedded Flash movies in Powerpoint 97 (Step 9)

Make sure that your presenter chooses to enable macros upon opening the presentation. Otherwise, he/she will be stuck again, and the movie won't rewind without bringing up the menu.

You'll find two mouseover actions: one framing the movie, the other (brilliantly camoflagued in the same color as the background) at the bottom of the slide. I've even provided cues in the movie, so that you can tell if it's working or not.
